Senior year is a once-in-a-lifetime moment — you’re celebrating who you are right now and everything you’re about to become. Choosing the right photographer matters, because these pictures live on your walls, in your yearbook, and in your family’s hearts forever.

So… how do you pick someone you’ll feel amazing with in front of the camera?

Here’s what to look for (and what I provide to all my seniors!).

💡 1️⃣ Look for a Photographer Who Makes You Feel Comfortable

No one wants to feel stiff or awkward during their session. That’s why I guide every pose from start to finish — you’ll never wonder what to do with your hands. 😄

My sessions are relaxed, fun, and full of hype. I’m a mom, so patience and encouragement are kind of my superpowers. Once we get going, those natural smiles and confident poses come out fast!

🌳 2️⃣ Choose a Photographer Who Knows Great Local Locations

A beautiful location can totally change the vibe of your session.

A couple of my faves:

  •  Corriganville Park — earthy trails, rocky spots, warm golden light

  •  Bridgeport in Valencia — dreamy water views and clean, classic backgrounds

I match the location to your personality:

✨ outdoorsy

✨ sporty

✨ city-chic

✨ soft + elegant

We pick a place that feels like you.

👗 3️⃣ Make Sure They Help With Outfits

Outfits can make or break how confident you feel.

I send every senior a simple wardrobe prep guide: colors that photograph beautifully, accessories, shoes, and hairstyles that work in the wind and sunshine. If you’re worried about certain areas (arms, shoulders, etc.) I’ll give tips that flatter your shape — no stress, no guesswork.

😊 4️⃣ They Should Know How to Bring Out Real Confidence

A lot of teens secretly worry:

“What if I look awkward?”

Parents sometimes worry:

“What if they don’t smile naturally?”

That’s where posing prompts, movement, and a little pep talk come in. I show a couple photos from the camera early on — and suddenly everyone sees how amazing they look. Confidence level: 🔥🔥🔥

📸 5️⃣ Ask About the Session Experience

My sessions are usually 60–90 minutes with 2–3 outfit changes.

We start chill and comfortable, then build to bold, creative poses once you’re having fun.

You’ll leave feeling like a model.

✨ 6️⃣ Pay Attention to Editing Style

Every photographer has a signature look!

Mine: light, bright, and airy

✨ clean whites

✨ soft colors

✨ natural skin tones

You still look like you — just on your best day.

🖼️ 7️⃣ Look for Quality Products & Keepsakes

You deserve to show off your big milestone! In addition to digital images, I offer:

  •  Custom albums

  •  Wall art

  •  Grad announcements

It’s the special touches that make the memories last.

💛 8️⃣ Ask About Their Experience with Seniors

Here’s one of my favorite recent sessions:

A senior booked both fall and spring photos. For fall, we shot at Bridgeport — she was quiet at first… and by the end she was striking fierce poses and laughing with confidence. Her mom teared up watching her shine.

Moments like that? They’re why I love senior photography.

✔️ 9️⃣ Ask How They Help You Prepare

To love your photos:

  •  Wear outfits you feel amazing in

  •  Trust the process

  •  Be ready to laugh and move

I hype you up the whole time so your personality shows in every image.

🏆 🔟 Choose a Professional You Trust

You’re only a senior once.

An iPhone can take snapshots — a professional creates portraits you’ll treasure for decades.

Good lighting, flattering angles, expert editing… it all comes together to show your story in the most beautiful way.

Final Tip

Pick someone who gets you — your style, your personality, your vision for this moment in life. When you feel comfortable, you’ll look incredible.

And if you’re a senior in the Simi Valley or Valencia area…

📩 Let’s create something unforgettable together!
