There is something really special about photographing a family that is not only beautifully styled, but deeply connected. As a Simi Valley family photographer, sessions like this are the ones that stay with me long after the gallery is delivered.


I had the absolute joy of working with this incredible family, and from the very beginning, I knew it was going to be something special. I’ve been planning this session with Hope for months, and let me just say… she is amazing. When I found out she’s still in high school, I was genuinely shocked. The way she coordinated outfits, communicated with everyone, and helped organize such a large group was beyond impressive.


Hope came prepared with everything I sent over, including my style guide, and it shows. Just look at how stunning everyone looks together. The tones, the textures, the way it all flows so effortlessly… they truly nailed it.


As we moved from spot to spot during their session, I got to chat more with Hope, and she shared something that made everything click into place. This family gets together once a month. And honestly, you can feel that kind of closeness instantly. There was so much laughter, so much ease, and such a natural connection between everyone.


Photographing a large extended family session can sometimes feel a little chaotic, but not this one. Every single person was a joy to work with. From the grandparents to the youngest little ones, each personality came through so beautifully in the photos. Those are always my favorite moments to capture, the in-between laughs, the genuine smiles, the little interactions that tell the real story of a family.


And I have to say, watching Hope step into such a leadership role with her family was so fun to see. She has already applied to be part of my 2027 Senior Rep Team, and I truly think she would be the perfect fit. If this session is any indication, she brings organization, warmth, and such a positive energy to everything she does.


Sessions like this are exactly why I love what I do. Being invited in to capture a family’s story, especially one as close and connected as this, is something I never take for granted.
