How My Faith Influences My Art

Art is shaped by what we believe, what we notice, and what we hold close.

For me, photography is not separate from my faith. It is deeply connected to it. My faith quietly influences how I see people, how I approach my work, and why storytelling and connection matter so much in every session I photograph.

Seeing People With Intention

Faith has taught me to see people with intention and compassion.

When I photograph families or high school seniors, I don’t see subjects to pose or moments to control. I see individuals with stories, value, and purpose. That perspective shapes how I approach every session.

Photography becomes an act of honoring who someone is, right where they are. Not who they think they should be, but who they already are.

Slowing Down and Trusting the Moment

Faith has also taught me patience.

Not every moment needs to be forced, rushed, or perfected. Some of the most meaningful images come when there’s space to breathe, to wait, and to trust that something beautiful will unfold.

This belief shows up in how I photograph. I allow moments to happen naturally. I leave room for connection, laughter, and quiet in-between moments that often become the most treasured images.

Creating From a Place of Gratitude

Photography constantly places me in moments worth noticing.

Faith reminds me to approach those moments with gratitude. Each session is an opportunity to witness love, growth, and connection. That awareness shapes how I shoot, edit, and deliver images.

Gratitude encourages me to photograph with care rather than comparison, and with purpose rather than pressure.

Finding Beauty in the Ordinary

Faith has taught me that beauty doesn’t have to be loud to be meaningful.

The ordinary moments, the gentle interactions, the quiet expressions often carry the most depth. My art reflects that belief. I’m drawn to natural light, honest emotion, and images that feel calm and timeless.

Photography becomes a way to reflect beauty that already exists, rather than trying to manufacture it.

Serving Others Through Photography

At its core, my faith influences how I serve.

Photography isn’t just about creating beautiful images. It’s about serving families by preserving their memories and honoring their relationships. It’s about creating a space where people feel seen, valued, and comfortable enough to be themselves.

This mindset shapes the experience I create from the first conversation to the final images.

Letting Go of Control

Faith teaches trust.

That trust carries into my work. I don’t aim for perfection. I aim for presence. I release control over rigid expectations and instead focus on connection.

When control is loosened, authenticity has room to grow.

Art With Purpose

My faith gives my work purpose beyond aesthetics.

Photography becomes a way to reflect love, patience, and intentionality. It’s a way to document life as it unfolds, honoring each season without trying to make it something it’s not.

Every image tells a story that matters.

Faith Woven Into Photography By Sherre

Photography By Sherre is shaped by these values.

From how I guide sessions to how I edit images, my faith quietly influences every part of my work. Not in a loud or performative way, but in the way I prioritize people, connection, and meaning.

Because art, when created with intention, becomes more than something you see.

It becomes something you feel.
